Sustipan is the small cape at the south-western edge of Split's harbour, close to Marjan. Its name comes from the medieval monastery of St Stephen under the Pin…Sustipan is the small cape at the south-western edge of Split's harbour, close to Marjan. Its name comes from the medieval monastery of St Stephen under the Pines, which stood here and served as a burial place for Croatian kings. In the early 19th century the site became Split's first cemetery, then outside the city, and the communist authorities later cleared it after a new municipal cemetery opened.
