The garrison finally gave it up on 12 March 1537, in exchange for safe passage out.

The walls follow the ridge rather than enclosing a courtyard, so a visit is a walk from one end to the other with the plain on one side and the sea on the other. Television found it too, and it stood in for Meereen, with the crowd scenes shot on these ramparts.
