The barrel vault overhead is coffered in carved stone rather than plaster and has survived largely intact, which is unusual for a ceiling of that age. The passage it stands on is narrow enough that the queue outside is often the first sign of it, and entry is ticketed, normally as part of the cathedral group rather than on its own.
